Definition: Submodules

Let $M$ be an $R$-module and $S$ be a subgroup of $M$. We say $S$ is an $R$-submodule of $M$ if $S$ is closed under the $R$-action (i.e., for all $r\in R$ and $s\in S$, $rs\in S$).
